The CHB will be the main festival location in Berlin. It includes a 40m² large rear projection window and the Panorama Hall, which is clearly visible from the boulevard Unter den Linden. The restaurant behind the 15m² large front window below communicates with the public space and provides the possibility of live streaming on the projection windows.

The Nightscreen-Gasometer is located in the south of Berlin. With an expanse of 660m² it is Europe’s biggest LED media facade. The LED net is attached to two top rings of the steel frame in an altitude of 80m, visible far beyond the Schöneberg district at nighttime. The orientation of the screen, operated by Megaposter, mainly is directed towards the new regional and intercity railway station Berlin Südkreuz of the Berlin Circle Line (Ringbahn) and the city motorway interchange.

Behind the tracks of the underground railstation U6 at Friedrichstraße 12 digital city light boards will be placed. Due to its central location in Berlin and its proximity to attractions such as the Unter den Linden boulevard, the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, the station is a favorite destination for tourists. At the same time, it is the main junction for regional traffic in Berlin, measured by the number of passengers. There will be 6 beamers on each side behind the tracks, which can be watched in the waiting situations. The space between the user and the projection will be 1 to 3 meters approximately.

in Berlin´s subway network, Berlin, Germany

The Berliner Fenster is the soundless passenger TV in Berlin‘s subway. A mixture of current world news, sports, culture, weather, today‘s events, and advertisement is broadcasted on 3,768 double screens in 1,106 coaches. It is a totally new dimension of television in means of the innovative dual display system. There are two displays installed, side by side omitting sound. One display provides all main pictures like TV would. The second display replaces the sound by showing text. That enables to deliver the same value of information.

iMAL’s building is located along the canal of Brussels, on the northern border of the city center, between the trendy Dansaert street and the multicultural neighbourhood of Molenbeek. This old industrial building was originally a flourmill and now hosts several creative companies and organizations. For the festival, the windows of the building will be transformed into 'vintage' pixels while the courtyard will welcome mobile projections. The iMAL venue will also host workshops and debates.

FACT launches a brand new media facade on its building in collaboration to coincide with the Media Facades Festival! Developed in partnership with Arup lighting designers, the new facade takes over FACT's front window with a 50x50 low-resolution lighting grid. The facade will be used to advertise FACT events and allow interactivity by the public, who will influence its designs. The facade is funded by Liverpool City Council to providing additional lighting to the neighbourhood around FACT and attract tourism to the Ropewalks area.

The BBC Big Screen in Liverpool is located in Clayton Square, close to Liverpool Lime Street railway station. The screen is one of 19 currently installed across the country - 25 meter LED screens with sound systems in prominent locations in city centres.
The premise on which the screens are operated is as a platform for all, to provide local information, and to allow film-makers and other visual artists a platform on which to display their work. The screens are run by the BBC in accordance with local collaborators. The 'screens' show BBC programming as well as screenings of locally made films, event information and sports coverage.

The Palace of Arts building was opened in 2005, next to Danube river and part of the Millennium City Centre of Budapest. It incorporates a concert hall, the Festival Theatre and the Ludwig Museum as well. Two lighting systems can be used for the Media Facades Festival: the LED lights strips and the headlamps around the building which are operated by two different computer systems but can be used simultaneously.
The lights are attached in groups to the building‘s facade (horizontal and vertical). Their colour and intensity can be changed group by group.

Lánchíd 19 has a moveable, accordion-like glass facade with tiny painted graphics, chronicling the eco-system of the Danube. It is animated by the changing colors of an innovative lighting design concept, thus providing large pictures (e.g. of a fingerprint, a diver, a bottle or simply wavelets). Glass is one of the dominant materials in the interiors as well, creating a sense of openness and allowing movement to become an integral part of the building’s character.

LED Figs facade is a computer controlled display system made of 300 green molded plastic pixels, each one about the size of a fig, which will be placed in the windows of the Kitchen Budapest Building. Thus KIBU will create a communication platform with the street outside by sending out data from the internet, like yesterdays weather, visits to our site and many other things that fit in 300 pixels on 30 meters.

Lasipalatsi square is located in Kamppi, the centre of Helsinki. Most of the screenings and joint broadcast events of MFF2010 will take place at this square. The square is enclosed by two buildings: the old bus station and the Lasipalatsi Media centre including two exhibition spaces, Bio Rex, the largest cinema in Helsinki and the city library‘s IT space – as well as shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. At the back of the Lasipalatsi square is the CityWall - installed as a rear projection to the window. It is a public screen of 2.40m width and 1m height running on Multi Touch design for interactive multimedia presentations. There are possibilities of installing the box to a front facade of the building, a setting that is also possible in other MFF 2010 cities.

Gallery Alkovi is an artist-run window gallery which specializes in contemporary, urban and media art. The gallery is situated in the district of Kallio with a working class history, a neighborhood known for both its urban liveliness and young atmosphere as well as its social problems. The window surface of the gallery is altogether 2.5 x 8 meters. The depth of the backspace is only 1.5 m. Media Facades Festival Helsinki cooperates with the Alkovi gallery in organizing workshops and screenings. The gallery is also open to collaborative proposals from other MFF 2010 cities.

The Helsinki City Tourist office is located in the old centre of Helsinki, on the corner of the Esplanadi boulevard, with the Senate and Market squares and the ferry terminals close by. In spring 2009, the office opened a new window display based on
6 projectors which are activated after dark. They are currently used for presenting tourist material and other information on Helsinki.

Medialab-Prado is close to Paseo del Prado Street, the Prado National Museum and the Reina Sofía National Contemporary Art Museum, which constitutes the institutional cultural axis of Madrid. Its neighborhood is a residential area, now embedded into a gentrification process caused by the increase of museums, art galleries and fancy shops. The screen is installed on the facade of the industrial Medialab Prado building, facing the Plaza de las Letras.

The new Ars Electronica Center in Linz is an ambitious architectural undertaking that went up in record time. A multilevel structure was built immediately adjacent to the existing facility. Subsequently the entire ensemble was wrapped in a glass shell: the AEC’s spectacular 5.100 m LED facade which consists of 1085 windows colored red, green, blue and white in size of 3x1 meters. The LED lights are attached in groups to the building‘s facade (horizontal and vertical). The colors and intensity of the lights can be changed group by group (RGB based colors). The media facade can be operated by a ‘Simulator’.

The grounds of what used to be Linz’s tobacco processing plant will be the extraordinary featured venue of this year’s Ars Electronica Festival. The Tabakfabrik’s history goes back to 1850, when the Austrian State Tobacco Company began producing cigars and pipe & chewing tobacco here. The plant was expanded in stages and production stepped up over the years. The workforce grew rapidly; over 1,000 people (mostly women) were already working here by 1855.
